Gas mixers

Technology overview: Fusion Flow MXM & IMX industrial gas mixers

Overview: Gas Mixers

MXM — precision, multi‑channel gas mixer (R&D ↔ industrial)

MXM is a highly configurable gas‑mixing platform that blends up to 10 gases (pure or pre‑mixed) from sub‑10 SCCM to 50,000 SLPM total flow, with mix accuracy as good as ±0.6% of the targeted percentage and control response times down to ~25 ms, depending on conditions. It ships with an on‑board library of 49 gases (including selected corrosives and refrigerants), a 10.1″ touchscreen interface, and Industry 4.0 connectivity for scripting, remote control and logging (web API, MQTT, RS‑232, analog/digital I/O, local/SQL/cloud logging). Max inlet pressure is typically 145 psig (10 barG).

MXM comes in three form factors to suit lab benches, panels and racks: Turnkey (2–6 channels integrated), Benchtop/Standalone (2–10 channels, external MFC plumbing), and Rackmount (2–10 channels, 4U 19″)—all built around Alicat MFCs and the proprietary MixModule control architecture.

IMX — percent‑level, high‑flow industrial mixer (facility & process)

IMX is a compact 9″×10″×10″ industrial mixer for percent‑level blending at 100–3,200 SLPM combined flow, handling up to 4 gases with the same ±0.6% targeted‑mix accuracy and fast response. It includes a backlit TFT keypad (7‑button) for glove‑friendly operation and is pre‑wired for easy integration (RS‑232, EMO, 24 V alarm output, third‑party analyser input). Max inlet pressure is typically 145 psig (10 barG).

Turnkey delivery with PCT (specify → design → commission)

PCT provides end to end gas mixing systems — from specification and CAD/layout, through build and on site commissioning, to training and ongoing support across the UK & Ireland.

We can deliver:

  • Turnkey “lab in a box” mixers (MXM TK), complete with plumbing and I/O.
  • Benchtop/rack controllers with remote MFCs for skid integration (MXM SA/MXM RM).
  • Industrial IMX solutions for fixed plant—percent level blends into headers, buffer vessels or distribution manifolds—with automation via RS 232/PLC and EMO wiring.

Features & benefits (mapped to MXM / IMX)

  • Accurate, repeatable blends: as good as ±0.6% of the targeted mix; individual channels benefit from Alicat’s fast MFC dynamics and matched tuning. (MXM, IMX).
  • Fast response = less waste: ~25 ms channel response reduces settle time and off spec gas during recipe changes. (MXM, IMX)
  • Scales to your process: MXM up to 10 channels / 50,000 SLPM; IMX up to 4 channels / 3,200 SLPM; both rated to ~145 psig. (MXM, IMX)
  • Wide gas library: 49 pre loaded gases (incl. selected corrosives & refrigerants), plus support for premixes—ideal for calibration, R&D and production atmospheres. (MXM, IMX)
  • Automation & connectivity: MXM adds web UI, REST API, MQTT, rich data logging (local CSV/SQL/cloud), analog/digital I/O and scripting with if/then logic for unattended sequences. (MXM)
  • Industrial integration: IMX includes RS 232, EMO hardware, 24 V alarms and analyser input—as standard—inside a compact steel chassis for 24/7 operation. (IMX)
  • Flexible form factors: MXM offered as Turnkey, Benchtop/Standalone, or Rackmount to match lab benches, test panels or rack rooms. (MXM)
  • Backed by PCT: UK based design, build and commissioning support, plus lifecycle service.

FAQs for Gas Mixers (MXM / IMX)

MXM supports up to 10 channels; IMX supports up to 4. Both include 49 pre loaded gases.
As good as ±0.6% of the targeted mix percentage, subject to flow, back pressure and gas species.
Typical channel response is ~25 ms (T63), enabling quick transitions and less off spec gas.
MXM offers flow or pressure priority operation and can change recipes on the fly; IMX supports fixed flow filling of headers or active line pressure control modes for facility supply.
MXM is offered as Turnkey (2–6 ch.), Benchtop/Standalone (2–10 ch.), and Rackmount (2–10 ch.); IMX ships as a compact 9″×10″×10″ industrial unit.
MXM includes web API, MQTT, RS 232, analog/digital I/O and robust logging (local/SQL/cloud). IMX provides RS 232, EMO interfacing, 24 V alarm output and analyser input for PLC tie in.
MXM Turnkey chassis can be factory expanded up to 6 channels; Standalone/Rack can be configured up to 10 channels for future scaling.

Standard configurations accept up to ~145 psig (10 barG); higher pressure options may be available—ask our team.
Yes. PCT specifies, designs, builds and commissions MXM/IMX systems, from lab in a box to industrial headers, with UK based project support and service.
