Back Pressure Regulator for Sanitary Applications
Sanitary FD Series back pressure regulators from Equilibar have undergone rigorous design and testing to have excellent drainability for sanitary applications, when oriented with the inlet down.
The Sanitary FD series is CIP/SIP ready and can be cleaned in either the forward or reverse direction. Most diaphragm material options are available with temperature ratings to 135C.
The FD series is crevice free, they are electropolished and have a < 20 RA finish.

Water for Injection Systems and the FD Series
Individual user points are designed into WFI distribution loops for easy access. However, as each point of use valve is a potential source of contamination, sanitary valves are required. In some cases, it may also be useful to control the flow at that specific user point in which case a fast-acting precision valve is recommended.
An Equilibar FD series regulator with its instantaneous response and sanitary design features may be useful for this application. An Equilibar FDT back pressure regulator is combined with an electronic pilot setpoint regulator for use as a flow control valve at such a user point. During normal operation the water flows through the FDT, then on command, the flow is diverted to the user application. The electronic pressure setpoint regulator gets feedback from a flow transmitter (FM) to adjust the pressure setpoint on the dome-loaded Equilibar FD valve to meet the flow requirements for the user point.
