FDD Pulseless Nanoliter Pump

  • Minimum dispensing flow rate of 0.105µL/sec
  • Ceramic Pumps provides longer lifetime and maximum chemical inertness
  • For 3 µL: Accuracy of ± 2%, Precision (C.V.) < ±1%
    For 150 µL: Accuracy of ± 0.1%, Precision (C.V.) < 0.1%

Description

The FDD Pulseless Nanoliter Pump is an ultra low flow dispensing pump that is capable of offering dispensing of less than one microliter at market leading precision and accuracy. Only three moving parts enables highly stable operation as well as a long-lasting pump life minimising maintenance costs.

An anti-backlash mechanism has been fitted which helps to provide consistent measures including when switching pump directions. The motor turns counterclockwise to dispense and clockwise to aspirate with a speed of up to 2000 steps a second. A remarkably low flow rate of 0.105µL/sec is provided at 1 rpm with a maximum flow of 62.8µL/sec at 600 rpm.

Dispensing rate

The dispensing volume ranges from 0 to 150µL with accuracy and precision at top range volume being as little as ±0.1%. It has a typical accuracy of < ±2% at 1µL. A pulseless smooth flow offers up to 98% stability thanks to a linear drive and a fine pitch lead screw.

Operating pressures and temperature

Wetted materials within the pump include ceramic (Alumina or Zirconia) as well as PVDF, UHMW-PE and FKM. These offer a substantial improvement in lifetime and chemical inertness within the market. The maximum operating pressure is 100 psig (6.89 bar) and the temperature range is between -20°C and 50°C.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does the FDD compare to other Fluid Metering pumps?

A. All other Fluid Metering products are rotating and reciprocating pumps. The Fluid Metering Direct Drive is a hybrid in-line pump, with syringe pump capabilities. The FDD can do discrete dispenses ranging from less than 1uL, all the way up to 150uL.

Q. What is the dispense resolution of the FDD?

A. 32nL per full step.

Q. What are ideal applications for the FDD?

A. Any application requiring a high level of accuracy and precision at very small volumes.

Q. Is the flow from the FDD pulseless?

A. Yes, with up to 98% flow stability.

Q. Can the FDD do non-contact dispensing?

A. Yes, down to 1uL.

Q. What tube diameter and tip size is recommended?

A. 1/16”OD x 1/32” ID hard tubing, 22-26 gauge dispense tip (varies per application).

Q. What fluids or reagents are compatible with the FDD?

A. The pump-head can be configured with PEEK, PVDF, or PTFE, and a variety of seal materials, to best fit your needs. We can also test your reagents for chemical compatibility.

Q. What can be done to increase the lifetime of the FDD?

A. No maintenance is required. However, after using any fluid that might crystalize or precipitate, it is best to run a flush cycle if the pump will be idle.

Q. What is best way of priming the system?

A. We recommend using a priming pump (see Fluid Metering STF pumps). Alternatively, the FDD can self-prime with the use of dual valves (not included). A gravity-fed system can also be used.

Q. Is there any performance data available?

A. Yes, please contact one of our Sales Associates for more information.
