Jordan Valve Mark 80 series is a self operated temperature regulator, it requires no external power source or process control equipment for the valve to operate.
Mark 80 series has a relatively simple operation. The thermal system within the valve has a pre measured amount of fill liquid in it which fills the upper diaphragm chamber, capillary tube and most of the bulb. As the controlled temperature increases, the volatile fill liquid in the bulb begins to vaporise and creates pressure within the sealed system. This pressure drives the valve stem, closing direct acting valves or opening reverse acting valves.
The shorter stroke length of of the sliding gates on the mark 80 series results in a sealed actuator with a stainless steel diaphragm which does not require a bellows to operate.
To seal the actuator, the upper and lower casing and diaphragm are heli-arc welded around the circumference to create a solid bond. The resulting seal eliminates the need for any type of gasket meaning an all metal seal.
Temperature control ranges can be quickly and easily changed, the actuator is attached to the yoke by just four screws make change outs possible in less than five minutes.
